Remo Stars, Sporting Lagos not on the same Level — Ogunmodede

Ahead of Sunday’s NPFL clash between. Remo Stars and Sporting Lagos, Daniel Ogunmodede insists there is no rivalry between the sides.

Remo Stars and the newly promoted Sporting Lagos, will add a new chapter to the South West derby at the Remo Stars Sport Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.

The game is the first competitive
meeting between the two sides.

On the eve of the clash, Ogunmodede praised the works the Lagos based side have done in a short period, but insists
his side is on another level.

“They are a great side, but I don’t think, there is any rivalry between Remo Stars and Sporting Lagos,” He told BRL.

“We have been on the continent two seasons, and narrowly missed out on league title, while they are just debuted in the domestic elite division after a successful campaign.”

Even though Ogunmodede spoke about his admiration what the Paul Offor’s side have achieved, the Coach is confident in his side to play better on the day and emerge victorious.

“It’s a game we wanted to win, because it is important for our aspirations. We want to win and go top of the table.

“Yes, it is important to win a derby, but we have to treat it like a normal game. They are a good side and we know what
they can do, but we are ambitious.”

Daniel Ogunmodede has a healthy squad ahead of the game, except first choice goalkeeper, Kayode Bankole who missed the game at Bayelsa United last week.

“Kayode Bankole didn’t start the game in Yenagoa because of a minor injury. Tambe (Charles) came in and.did well.

“I can’t say who will start against Sporting Lagos, but, I have to assess the players and discuss with them. They all have my trust “

Ogunmodede also spoke on the altercation he had with former striker Andy Okpe during his side’s 2-0 defeat to Rivers United.

The gaffer and his former goal king were separated at the end of the game at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

“It was one those things that happen in football, like I said, it’s an emotional sport. So it was nothing serious though, but I don’t want to say much about it, because it’s in the past now.

“We have had another game after that episode,” Ogunmodede said.
