Super Eagles: Peseiro concerned over poor game management

Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro is pleased with ending the international friendly winless run, but he expressed concern about the team’s performance and their lack of concentration.

The three time African Champions ended their four-year winless run in friendly games with a 3-2 victory over Mozambique on Monday.

The Nigerians conceeded the first goal of the game inside opening 6th minutes.

The responded positively by replying with three goals before the end of the first half, but they were pegged back in the second half when the Mambas who themselves had a player sent off scored their second of the game.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Peseiro, was not entirely pleased with the players’ performance and blamed them for losing concentration and not being clinical in front of goal.

“First of all, I’m happy that after 15 friendly matches, we finally got a win for the first time in four years,” Peseiro said.

“I think we deserved much more from this game (against Mozambique). It was easy playing against 10 men but when we were 3-1 up, I didn’t like the performance in the second half. We commanded the game but we lost concentration at some point. We played better than this result.

“We were better than this team (Mozambique). I think my players felt it was easy.  I’m not happy with the performance of the players.

“We didn’t manage the game well we had too many poor passes, poor crosses and poor finishing which I don’t like.

“We should have scored more goals, we created so many chances to score say eight goals. We played better than this performance my players need to stay more concentration.” He said.
