Victor Boniface will have to wait of this first international goal for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Boniface thought he had scored his first goal for Nigeria in the match against Saudi Arabia, on Friday, only for it to credited as an own goal.
The striker who had his first start for Nigeria in the game however appeared unbothered.
“I wasn’t bothered that the goal was credited as an own goal as long as we equalized so it’s OK.”
The 22-year-old made his debut for the three-time African Champions against Sao Tome and Principe last month.
”I feel proud of myself being part of the Super Eagles. I have been working really hard for this moment, I have been playing really good, to be honest I’m happy with my performance.
“It’s been really good playing with good players in the club and also in the national team, it really boost my confidence. You want to do more and try to help the team so I feel confident about it.”
Boniface now has two caps for the Eagles and could earn his third when Nigeria play Mozambique this Monday.
