Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has won Nottingham Forest’s Player of the Month and Goal of the Month Awards for the month of August.
Nottingham Forest on Monday made the announcement via its official website.
Awoniyi scored three times and provided one assist to emerge as player of the month with 83% of total vote cast by fans.
“The Nigerian has picked up from where he left off after an excellent end to last season, scoring three goals and producing an assist in four Premier League games so far this term.”
“In August, the striker scored three goals in three matches, becoming only the third African player to score in seven consecutive Premier League matches.” The club said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the striker has two of his three goals nominated for goal of the month accolades.
The solo goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford and Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.
The goal at Old Trafford however finished on top of the polls having received 38% of the votes.
Awoniyi is also in contention for Premier League player of the month award.
The former Liverpool forward will battle West Ham’s Jarod Bowen, James Maddison of Tottenham Hotspur, Rodri (Manchester City), Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford) and Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton and Hove Albion) in the race for the gong.
