CAF Champions League: Last Chance for Enyimba and Remo Stars

Nigeria’s representatives in this season’s CAF Champions League, Enyimba and Remo Stars, are determined to make a comeback in the return legs of their ties, after facing defeats in their respective first-leg matches.

While Enyimba lost a thrilling encounter 4-3 against Al Ahly Benghazi in Libya, Remo suffered a 1-0 defeat against Medeama Sports Club in Cape Coast, Ghana.

After returning to Nigeria on Monday and Tuesday, Remo and Enyimba have begun preparations for the return leg, which will take place on Sunday.

Remo Stars coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, reflected on their defeat in Ghana and expressed confidence in his team’s ability to bounce back.

“We fought hard in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round in Ghana. We will work even harder to get the job done in Nigeria,” Ogunmodede stated.

To advance to the next round, both Enyimba and Remo must win the second leg by a margin of at least two goals, as they lost the first legs by a goal margin each.

Unlike previous seasons, where teams eliminated from the CAF Champions League had the chance to compete in the Confederation Cup, there will be no opportunity for teams that get eliminated to participate in the second-tier competition this season.
