Anosike Reveals How D’Tigers Relationship Impacted Olympic Pre-Qualifiers Tournament

D’Tigers forward, Ejimofor Anosike is taking positives from the disappointing defeat to Mali at the FIBA Olympic Pre-qualifying Tournament.

The Nigeria Men’s National Basketball team crashed out of the tournament after losing back-to-back games to Senegal and Mali.

Fingers have been pointed across different quarters, with some singling out the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) for not adequately preparing the lads, while others laid the blame on the players and coaches for not showing enough character.

However, in a chat with BRL, D’Tigers forward Anosike revealed that he is only focused on his personal development, and he can only help the team to get better if he improves his game.

Anosike also shed light on the relationship of the squad, claiming that despite the team being new to each other and having a short time, the relationship was great, and generally, it was a wonderful experience.

“I just gotta get better. I’m gonna take it as a learning experience. I’m gonna train harder and get prepared for the next opportunity I get. I do my job, I try my best and I compete and help my team win as much as I’m on the floor.”

“We have a great team, great group of individuals, and great guys. Overall, it’s a great experience, we came closer, we became friends. We made memories.

“It’s just a tough one to lose two games at home. For me, I just got to take a learning experience to get better and get prepared to earn some more opportunities because I feel like if I continue to get better, I can help the team.”

“I think that disappointing performances like this can be avoided? I’m gonna just say, I could just focus on me. I feel like I just gotta get better as a player and the better I am as a player, the best I can help the team.

“So, the better I get, the more I continue to work and get stronger, faster and you know, I could be able to take advantage of the opportunities I get.”
