Okonkwo voted Women’s Afrobasket Championship MVP

D’Tigress star Amy Okonkwo was named as the most valuable Player of the just concluded 2023 Women’s Afrobasket Championship.

Okonkwo played a significant role as D’Tigress sealed a record equaling fourth consecutive title with a win over Senegal in Kigali, on Saturday.

She had a difficult final against Senegalese but did just enough to pip Cierra Dillard of Senegal to the award.

“I’m thankful to have the opportunity to come and lead. And I had the opportunity to lead the team. I told myself that I was not coming to Kigali to lose anything. And being MVP is a huge honor,” the PG said after the game.

Okonkwo will aim to deliver once again at the Pre-Olympics qualifiers.
