The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) considered the sack of Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum following the recent fall out.

According to Adepoju Tobi Samuel, the NFF’s move to relieve the American of his duties as Super Falcons coach followed his scathing criticism of the Federation in the media.

Recall the American in a podcast accused the NFF jeopardizing the Super Falcons preparations for the 2023 FIFA World Cup.

The 66 year-old’s displeasure with the NFF could have forced him from the team he claims, but, Waldrum said he stayed because of the players.

Meanwhile, the NFF however found the outburst ‘out of place’ and decided to pull the trigger, but the Sport ministry
intervened and saved the American’s job.

Sacking the coach barely three weeks before the tournament could prove counter productive and it will affect the performance of the squad, the Ministry held.

But, Waldrum will remain in charge of the team until after the tournament.

The team takes on Canada in their opening fixture at the Women’s World Cup, on Friday, at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium.
