Amusan is Nigeria’s Golden Child – Chioma Ajunwa

Olympic Gold winner, Chioma Ajunwa, has urged Nigerians to celebrate and support the current queen of tracks, Tobi Amusan, more for representing and portraying the country in good light.

Amusan recently won the competitive women’s 100m hurdles at the Silesia Diamond League in Chorzow, Poland, where she also equalled the meet record.

On the back of this performance, Ajunwa , who won Nigeria’s first and only individual gold medal at the Olympic, herself noted that Amusan must be supported to do more for the country.

“We really need to support her, we really need to give her kudos, give her accolades; she is representing all of us very well and we really need to pat her on the back,” the former Long jump star told BRL.

“Nigerians should try everything to make sure that she is properly taken care of. You know here in Nigeria, we have this attitude of not giving honour to whom it’s due; not celebrating those that needed to be celebrated.

” I think Tobi Amusan deserves everything Nigeria can afford to give her, Nigeria has to try to make sure she is given the full necessary support.”

Meanwhile in a recent development, Tobi Amusan has revealed she has been slapped with a violation by the Athletics Integrity Unit for missing three tests in the last 12 months.

The World Champion, who has already qualified to defend her title at the World Championship in Budapest next month says she’ll fight the case.
