Despite seeing increasingly fewer game time for Manchester City, Striker Kelechi Iheanacho will keep his place in the Super Eagles regardless of the impressive goal scoring form of NPFL top scorer, Stephen Odey according to Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr.
Clarifying his position on the selection of players for Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, Rohr has defended his decision not to hand the MFM FC forward a call up despite his exploits in the NPFL this season.
Rohr said he hopes ” Odey can get better ” becasue there is so much competition in that department, including Kelechi, who plays for English Premier League side, Manchester City.
The Technical Adviser stressed that his team were on a good patch of form and replacing any player will require an exceptional performance from players yet to get a call up.
‘ I hope that Stephen Odey can get better because I have a Manchester City striker in my team
‘Â At the moment we’re a winning team, so the NPFLÂ players must prove they deserve a place in the team.’
