Super Eagles 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers rivals Guinea Bissau have booked their place in the tournament, following their win over Sao Tome and Principe on Wednesday.
The Wild Dogs edged bottom places Sao Tome and Principe 1-0 to confirm their place in Cote D’Ivoire and dislodged the Super Eagles as the Group leaders.
The match was keenly contested by both side, the Wild Dogs, however, found the breakthrough in the 55th-minute.
Belgium-based forward Zinho Gano for the goal, beating the Goalkeeper with a low drive from inside the area.
Baciro Cande’s side now a point above Nigeria in the qualifiers with 10 points from five matches, but a win for Nigeria over Sierras Sierra Leone on Sunday will take the Jose Peseiro’s side back to the top of the Group.
Super Eagles have nine points from four games, while Leone Stars of Sierra Leone are third with five points from four matches as well.
