Enyimba of Aba have been crowned Champions of Nigeria for the ninth time after finishing top of the Super six standing at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Sunday.
The Finidi George’s side sealed the title after playing a 1-1 draw against Rivers United in the final game of the Championship.
Ekene Awazie gave Enyimba the lead in the first half, only for Nyima Nwagua to equalize for Rivers United in the second half.
Rivers United needed one more goal to retain the title they won last season, but Enyimba held on firmly to the result and sealed their ninth title.
Enyimba and Remo Stars will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederations Cup, while Rivers United managed to secure CAF Confederations Cup ticket.
The winners of Federation Cup final between Rangers and Bendel Insurance will join Rivers United in the CAF Confederation Cup.
