UCL: Osimhen Scores, But Napoli Out

Victor Osimhen’s late goal for Napoli was not enough to save them from exiting the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, as a 1-1 draw at the Diego Maradona stadium in Naples saw AC Milan progress to the semi finals 2-1 on aggregate.

Despite their valiant effort, Napoli was unable to turn the table after Milan had secured a 1-0 first-leg win in Milan, last Wednesday.

On the brink of half time, Osimhen had a great opportunity to get on the scoresheet but was outmanoeuvred in the aerial battle by Milan’s Theo Hernandez.

Minutes later, the Rossoneri took the lead through Olivier Giroud who was played through by Rafael Leão, whose mazy run through Napoli’s defence and pass required very little for the Frenchman to do.

Osimhen’s goal was disallowed after he had handled the ball before putting it into the back of the net.

A further chance for the Partenopei to equalize was squandered when Kvaratskhelia’s penalty kick was saved by the Milan goalkeeper.

Ultimately, it was a disappointing night for Napoli.

In the dying embers of the match, Victor Osimhen looked certain to equalize for Napoli when his header just narrowly missed the target.

Moments later, he thumped one home and it looked like there was going to be a dramatic comeback for the Serie A leaders.

However, Milan managed to hold firm and secure their passage to the semi-finals of the competition.
