Match Report: Sunshine climb out of Relegation waters following Six-goal thriller in Ilorin

Four second half goals secured a 4-2 win for Sunshine Stars FC in a week 28 NPFL tie against ABS FC at the Kwara State Sports Complex, Ilorin on Sunday.

The first half was cagey and produced no major talking point, but it quickly turned to a goal fest from the second half.

It was the visitors who took the initiative as, Sikiru Alimi found the back of the net with a solo run in the 46th minute.

Ajibola Otegbeye doubled the lead barely 10 minutes later against his former side via a header off a Dayo Ojo’s corner kick.

With plenty of time left to play ABS turned up with a goal of their own to reduce the deficit.

But there was no slowing down for Duke Udi’s team as Abiodun Joseph scored what will surely be a goal of the season contender, to restore the visitors’ two-goal lead in the 77th minute.

The Saraki Boys responded yet again with a goal of their own six minutes from time after Ebuka Anaekwe unleashed a low drive during an ensuing goal-mouth scramble.

But the final nail to the coffin came in the 87th minute through Ezekiel Thompson, ending any hopes of a comeback from Henry Makinwa’s men.

At the end of 90 minutes and an additional five, Sunshine Stars left the Kwara State Sports Complex with the maximum points for the second time in as many trips to the Harmony State.
