Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen and his Napoli teammates endured a frustrating outing on Friday night, losing 1-0 to Lazio at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
The striker came into the game on the back of scoring in eight consecutive matches and the Partenopei losing once in 18 games at home.
Osimhen, who owns the Club’s record for most consecutive goals in the league, was unable to surpass the Serie A record of 11 League games held by Gabriel Batistuta.
The Serie A leaders Napoli suffered only their second league defeat of the season, with Matias Vecino scoring the the only goal in the 67th minute, from an excellent long range strike.
The League’s top goal scorer, Victor Osimhen, came closest to an equaliser, but saw his header bounce off the crossbar.
Despite the defeat Napoli are still on course for their first league title in 30 years.
They remain 17 points clear of Lazio, who moved to second place and are one point above Inter and AC Milan, although the Milan clubs both have a game in hand.
