Everton have waste little time in naming a new head Coach after the sack of Frank Lampard last week.
Sean Dyche was announced, Monday, as replacement for the former gaffer, and he resumes immediately at Goodison Park on a two-and-a-half year deal.
The Merseyside club, who pay the wages of Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi, are back in the relegation battle this season, having barely survived the drop last term under Lampard.
Meanwhile, the immediate task for Dyche will be to return the club (19th)to safety, and the 51 year-old Manager will decide how crucial Iwobi will be in his plans.
The 26 year-old was a utility player under Lampard and the role allowed him unlock some of his talents, but importantly his work rate improved and involvement on both ends.
Yet, he has only managed 1goal and 6assists in 20appearances for the Toffees.
For Dyche, he returns to Management for the first time since his dismissal as Burnley manager back in 2022 and his first test couldn’t have come any sooner or harder than welcoming Arsenal (1st) to Goodison Park.
Similarly for Iwobi, he’ll be facing his old team, and the Arsenal academy product will desire a win to charge his team’s revival.
There are 17 teams between both sides, and Arsenal have scored 45goals – 30 more than Saturday’s opponent – and have the second best defensive record in the league.
A clear indication that Everton have a mountain to climb to get a result.
