Head coach Deji Ayeni is a happy man again after his Akwa United side picked its first point of the new NPFL campaign.
Akwa suffered a shocking home defeat in the season opener, but bounced to pick a point in match day two after 0-0 draw with Enyimba.
The Promise Keepers played good football and were unlucky not to win the maximum points in Aba.
“It’s not two points lost for me, as the point we got here in Aba is a gain for us, as we have earned one from the three we lost at home to Bendel Insurance.
“Am not satisfied with the level of my team but will keep working on the team, as it will get better daily.” Ayeni said at his post match conference.
“I have a complete team, where every player can contribute his quota. The flexibility in our recruitment is helping us, as the players that came in showed class, doggedness and determination that they want to get something positive out of the game.”
“Our performance against Enyimba will also spur us on, as we head to Jos for the 3 points against Nasarawa United on Matchday 3.
“No team is invincible, give it to Enyimba, as they are a mature side, have a rich history in the NPFL and critics can’t take anything away from them.
“However, this is an era where all coaches must work harder and map out strategies to win matches.” He concluded.
