Daniel Sturridge was spotted arriving at a Turkish airport in the early hours of Tuesday morning and is now set to team up with his former Chelsea teammate and friend John Mikel Obi.
The former Liverpool striker is believed to be close to signing for Trabzonspor for free after being released by the Reds.
The 29-year-old was spotted walking out the airport in Istanbul with an entourage of security and was then driven away.
The Turkish club are reportedly willing to offer a two-year deal with an option of a third, worth in the region of £2.8million per season.
Sturridge joined Liverpool in January 2013 and went on to score 68 goals in 160 appearances for the club.
Injuries hampered his latter years at Anfield, with the England international starting just five games in the Premier League last season.
Marseille, Eintracht Frankfurt, Real Betis and Atalanta have also expressed an interest in the player while Wayne Rooney’s club DC United were among those willing to make him an offer in MLS.
Sturridge was recently cleared to play again after being handed a short ban for breaching betting rules.
Aston Villa were among the Premier League sides to ask about him earlier this summer.
