2026 WCQ : Bruno could Profit from Zaidu Sanusi’s Fitness Problems

Zaidu Sanusi’s availability for Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe is in doubt due to a lingering muscle injury.

Sanusi has been absent from Porto’s last six games across all competitions, since he sustained the injury during Porto’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk on September 19.

The latest medical update from Porto indicates that the Nigerian is still undergoing treatment and did not participate in training with his teammates.

Porto has also announced Sanusi, Wendell, Galeno, and other injured players will remain unavailable “until the national team break”, which means he’s out of the games.

The former Santa Clara man missed the last international break where the Super Eagles played two friendlies against Mozambique and Saudi Arabia.

During recent the friendlies, Boavista’s Bruno Onyemaechi filled in as the left-back and he’s likely to keep the position, although Jamilu Collins could earn a recall to the team.

Also, Head Coach Jose Peseiro could be without Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Wilfred Ndidi for the ties.
