Former Super Eagles striker, Jonathan Akpoborie wants expectations to be eased ahead of the
2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
The 56-year-old, in an interview with Brila FM’s Ifeanyi Udeze on “No Holds Barred”, implored
the officials of the Super Eagles to manage the expectations placed on the team.
“Let us try to manage expectations. It is not necessary for us to be spectacular, because if it does not happen
that way, people will be let down.”
He went further to say “Although with the kind of attacking team we have, we should not worry
about winning AFCON and doing the job. Part of the job is being humble”.
Regarding the World Cup Qualifiers between Nigeria and Rwanda, Akpoborie believes Super
Eagles will come out, despite being winless against The Wasps since Ikechukwu Uche and Ahmed Musa guided the Nigeria to a 2-0 win in 2012.
