Ongoing strike action in Nigeria has affected Local flights, hindering the arrival of players
Major Public sectors are affected by the industrial strike action
Finidi held one training session on Monday with only 15 players available
Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, are facing difficulty in their preparation for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
As Nigeria gears up for the crucial World Cup qualifiers, only fifteen out of the twenty-three invited players have managed to assemble in camp due to the ongoing national strike in the country.
Notably absent are key players such as Maduka Okoye, Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Calvin Bassey, Frank Onyeka, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman, and Paul Onuachu.
Despite being in the country, these players have been unable to join the squad in camp, hindered by the nationwide strike orchestrated by the Nigeria Labour Congress, which has disrupted domestic flights.
The industrial action commenced Monday, but the Super Eagles are scheduled to have only one training session.
Plans for an evening training session on Monday have been scrapped in favor of allowing players to rest and undergo recovery sessions.
