Former Nigerian international Abiodun Obafemi has expressed worries over the Super Eagles’ position in the World Cup qualifying group, noting that they now only have an outside chance of reaching the tournament.
In a chat with Brila.net, Obafemi said the players need to show more effort and commitment when playing for the country.
He remarked on the lackluster attitude displayed in the two qualifiers matches, which contributed to Nigeria’s precarious position.
“The situation we find ourselves in, honestly, it’s not funny because I hate a situation where our own fate is no longer in our hands, regardless of whatever anybody thinks,” Obafemi said.
He also shared his views on the current coaching situation stating that, “Whether Finidi is the best man for the job, I don’t have any problem with my colleagues, the ex-international. But I’m not sure of those boys, because if you look at the body language of our players in those two games, I expected them to do more.”
