Bafana Bafana’s head coach, Hugo Broos has expressed satisfaction over his team’s performance against Nigeria.
Despite facing Nigeria in front of the sold out home crowd, the South African team managed to secure a valuable point in the FIFA World cup qualifiers.
The Nigerian team dominate the second half, however, their efforts was not enough to secure a win, resulting in a draw that leaves their World Cup hopes hanging in the balance.
Broos praised his players, acknowledging the difficulty of earning a draw against the group favorites.
“Picking a draw against a team like Nigeria is not easy,” Broos stated.
The draw places the Super Eagles in a precarious position, having now drawn all three of their games and dropping to fifth in the standings.
“Normally, when you see the draw of the group, you know that Nigeria will be your biggest opponent to be first in the group. So, when you come here, you hope to have at least one point,” Broos stated.
“It was very important not to lose that game, and I also said that the pressure was on Nigeria. Nigeria has now played three draws, including two home games.”
The Super Eagles will next play Benin Republic on Monday, while South Africa hosts Zimbabwe on June 10.
