2025 Afrobasket Qualifier: D’Tigers Struggle Continues in Tunisia

Nigeria’s MNT, D’Tigers, experienced another defeat at the ongoing 2025 Afrobasket qualifiers held in Tunisia.

Despite the team’s spirited efforts, they succumbed to a 72-62 loss against Uganda in their second game.

Following their initial defeat against Libya on the opening day, D’Tigers were eager for a victory to revive their campaign.

However, the team struggled to deliver a top-notch performance against a dominant Ugandan team.

The East Africans asserte themselves early on, leading 12-7 in the first quarter and extending their advantage to 17-12 in the second.

Although the third and fourth quarters were closely contested, Uganda secured the victory with scores of 26-25 and 18-17, respectively.

Standout performances for D’Tigers included Devine Eke with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists, followed by Mike Nuga contributing 15 points and 3 assists. Bright Akhuetie also added 9 points to the team’s effort.

With the upcoming challenge against Cape Verde on Sunday, D’Tigers find themselves in a challenging position and would need a miraculous turnaround to secure qualification for the Championship.
