The Libyan Football Federation (LFF), has named Nasser Al-Hadiri as head coach of the national team ahead of October’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Al-Hadiri’s appointment follows the recent dismissal of Serbian coach Micho, who was sacked after disappointing results left Libya at the bottom of their qualifying group.
The North African side managed a 1-1 draw against Rwanda in Tripoli before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Benin in Abidjan.
Assisting Al-Hadiri will be national coach Abu Bakr Al-Harak, while Misbah Shangab takes on the role of goalkeeper coach.
Abdul Hakim Al-Shalmani, the head of the LFF, expressed confidence in Al-Hadiri’s capabilities, stating that the federation had finalized all agreements with him.
He noted that Al-Hadiri brings significant technical experience, having previously served as an assistant coach under Spaniard Javier Clemente in 2014.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles are grappling with their own coaching challenges, as interim coach Augustine Eguavoen is now likely to lead the team into their upcoming matches with no permanent coach in sight.
Libya will face Nigeria in their AFCON qualifying matchday three encounter in Uyo on October 11, before hosting the three-time African champions in Benina four days later.
