2025 AFCON Qualifiers: It’s Two Points Lost vs Rwanda – Dele-Bashiru

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru believes the Super Eagles would have secured victory against Rwanda had they capitalized on their chances during the 0-0 draw at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

The three-time African champions were held to a goalless stalemate, with key players such as Ademola Lookman, Victor Boniface, Moses Simon, and Victor Osimhen all missing clear opportunities to break the deadlock.

Reflecting on the match, Dele-Bashiru stated, “I think we played well. It was always going to be difficult playing away, with their fans cheering them on. Of course, there are a lot of circumstances to consider too.”

He added, “The problem is that we couldn’t convert our chances. We created plenty of opportunities to win the game. The positive is that we didn’t concede.”

Despite the disappointing draw, Dele-Bashiru remains optimistic about Nigeria’s AFCON qualification campaign.

“This result will definitely boost our chances of qualifying. It’s not the outcome we wanted, but it’s certainly not a bad one.”

With the draw, Nigeria remains at the top of their group, having secured four points from a possible six.

The Super Eagles will next face Libya as they continue their quest for AFCON qualification
