Gaming in Africa is a big deal with millions of Africans unlocking their passion and experiencing the thrill of winning across various games online and offline everyday. It provides fans with an opportunity to get closer to their favourite sports and stars.
Nigerian sprinter Seye Ogunlewe had a great outing at the Josefa Odlozila Memorial on Monday.
Ogunlewe delivered a stellar performance, clocking 10.11 seconds with a favorable wind of +1.7 in the men’s 100m final.
The Nigerian finished third in the fiercely competitive race, but the return time was his best this season.
The race was ultimately won by Brandon Hicklin, who achieved an equal Personal Best (PB) of 9.94 seconds, followed closely by Jose Gonzalez in second place with a time of 10.09 seconds, also a Season’s Best (SB).
The performance sets a promising tone for Ogunlewe in upcoming races, as he seeks to get back to his best.
South Africa’s national football team coach, Hugo Broos has emphasized the importance of clinical finishing ahead of their upcoming match against Nigeria.
Broos acknowledged the challenge posed by the three-time African champions and stressed the need for his team to convert their chances if they hope to secure a victory.
This encounter marks the second time this year that South Africa will face Nigeria, with the latter holding the advantage.
South Africa’s recent goal-scoring record, with just 15 goals in their last 17 matches, underscores the urgency for improvement as they head into the crucial World Cup qualifiers in Uyo.
Broos is banking on key players such as Lyle Foster and Iqraam Rayners to step up and deliver a winning performance against the formidable Super Eagles.
“I think our problem might be that we don’t have those natural goal scorers,” said the Coach.
“We are looking at a situation from two or three years ago, and it’s not easy to address.”
South Africa sits second on the table, accumulating three points out of a possible six.
Nigerian shot putter Chukwuebuka Enekwechi secured yet another victory on Monday, further solidifying his status as a formidable contender for the upcoming Olympics.
He recorded the win at the Memorial Josefa Odlozila in the Czech Republic, where he astounded spectators by launching the shot put a remarkable distance of 21.53 meters on his fifth attempt.
Enekwechi’s exceptional performance saw him outclassing his competitors by a significant margin.
Among the challengers he defeated were Egypt’s Mostafa Amr Hassan, who achieved a throw of 20.58 meters, and Mohammed Khalifa, who reached 19.98 meters.
This is Enekwechi’s second consecutive victory, following his outstanding performance at the Mityng na Rynku Kościuszki in Poland.
At the Mityng na Rynku Kościuszki, Enekwechi was dominant in the event with a throw of 21.41 meters, beating esteemed athletes such as New Zealand’s Tom Walsh and local favorite Konrad Bukowiecki, who secured second and third place, respectively, with throws of 20.76 meters and 20.26 meters.
With the Tokyo Olympics on the horizon, his consistent success positions him as a force to watch in the world of athletics.

Team Nigeria’s hopes of Olympic participation in boxing were shattered when their final representative, Zainab Adeshina was defeated in the women’s 50kg category.
Competing in the 50kg weight class, Adeshina had previously secured a hard-fought 3-2 split decision victory over Jordanian Nassar Hanan, propelling her to the quarter-finals of the fiercely contested event.
However, her Olympic dream was dashed after suffering a defeat in Bangkok at the hands of Kaivo-Oja Pihla from Finland.
Additionally, UK-based Patricia Mbata faced disappointment in the 75kg category, losing 5-0 to Mexican Ortiz Citlalli Vanessa.
Despite the efforts of all six Nigerian boxers who participated in the 2nd World Boxing Olympic Qualification in Thailand across various weight classes, none secured a ticket to the 2024 Olympic Games.
While a victory in the quarter-finals would have guaranteed Olympic qualification, Nigeria fell short against their opponents, resulting in their inability to secure a spot in the boxing event at the Olympics in France.
Nevertheless, Team Nigeria remains determined to excel in other sports at the Olympics, including athletics, badminton, women’s basketball, women’s football (Super Falcons), table tennis, weightlifting, wrestling, and more.
