Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili competed at the Edwin Moses Legends Meet in Atlanta, participating in the women’s 100m event.

 

 

Despite her efforts, the race ended with Ofili finishing in 5th place, a disappointing performance for the young athlete.

Clocking in at 11.20s (+0.8), Ofili’s sprint was commendable, although she fell short of the top positions.

The first-place victory was claimed by United States’ Tamara Clark, who dashed across the finish line in 11.04s, followed closely by Celera Barnes with a time of 11.08s.

Undeterred by this result, Ofili remains determined to bounce back in her upcoming races, showcasing her resilience and determination on the track.

Ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Nigeria’s relay Athletic teams are to embark on a strategic training camp in Germany.

The team will undergo an intensive three-week training camp in Germany to refine their baton exchanges before heading to Paris for the Games, according to Ministry sources.

Nigeria has secured qualification for four relay events, with hopes high for a historic fifth qualification if the women’s 4x400m team secures their spot at the Olympics.

The Nigerian contingent will depart for Germany following the African Championships in Douala.

2023 Africa Nations Cup winner, Sebastien Haller came off the bench late in the second half of the UEFA Champions League final for Borussia Dortmund, but the Ivorian could not help his side avoid a defeat to Real Madrid.

Real Madrid secured their 15th UCL title after a 2-0 victory against Dortmund at the New Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Haller was a introduced with twenty minutes left to play and a goal down against the Spanish Champions.

Dani Carvajal broke the deadlock Twenty-eight minutes after the restart, from a well placed header beating the Dortmund goalkeeper and defenders.

Meanwhile, Dortmund missed several chances in the first half and a couple fell to Karim Adeyemi who would later rue his misses.

The 22 year-old was subbed off in the 72nd minute for Marco Reus, who played his final game for the club.

But Real Madrid were not done and in the 83rd minute, Vinicius Junior profited off a miscued pass, was teed up to finesse his shot into the net for his side’s second and the final seal.

Scottish Premiership side Rangers FC haves officially announced the contract extension of defender Leon Balogun as they prepare for the 2024/25 season.

Balogun, who returned to Rangers for a second stint last summer, has cemented his role as a key player within the team.

Initially joining the club in 2020, the experienced centre-back has since become an integral part of the squad.

“I am very, very happy and privileged to be able to extend my contract at a club like Rangers. I have said in the past I wish I could’ve been here sooner in my career because it fuels the fire to succeed all the time.

“I want to win more trophies here and win more titles. As a player, you want to make sure you are part of the history of this club because there are not many places in the world where there is a greater honour or a greater privilege.

During his first tenure with the club, Balogun played a pivotal role in securing the title during the 2020/21 season, contributing to the team’s success.

He played a crucial role in lifting the Scottish Cup in the 2021/22 campaign, further solidifying his impact on the pitch.

With his contract extension, Rangers fans can expect to see Balogun continue to contribute to the team’s success and defensive stability in the upcoming season.
