Team Nigeria endured a difficult day in the para table tennis events at the ongoing 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, suffering multiple defeats in the Men’s and Women’s Singles competitions.

In the Men’s Singles Class 10, Olufemi Alabi was defeated in the Round of 16 by China’s Hao Lian, who secured a straight-sets victory with a scoreline of 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-7).

Similarly, in the Men’s Singles Class 8, Victor Farinloye lost to Croatia’s Borna Zohil, who also won in straight sets, finishing the match 3-0 (11-7, 11-7, 11-7).

In the Women’s Singles Class 10, Faith Obazuaye was unable to advance past the Round of 16, falling to Wen Shiau Tian of Chinese Taipei.

Tian won decisively in straight sets, with a 3-0 (11-4, 11-8, 11-3) scoreline, moving on to the quarter-finals.

These losses mark a tough outing for Nigeria’s Para-table tennis team at the Games.
