The 2024 Nigeria Rugby League Season will kick off in June and games will be played in the Men, Women and U-19 categories.

An NRLA statement confirmed June 24 as the opening day, and General Manager Isah Lawal-Saulawa also elaborated on the structure of the new season’s format.

“The 2024 season will feature robust competitions in both the Northern and Southern conferences,” said Lawal-Saulawa. “The Southern Conference is set to kick off on June 24, with over five teams participating.

“Each of these teams will field squads in the men’s, women’s, and Under-19 categories, underscoring our commitment to inclusive growth and development across all levels of the sport.”

Isah Lawal also stated how selection for international events will be based on the performances of teams and individual athletes.

“It (the league) will also play a crucial role in the selection of homegrown talent for the NRLA’s international fixtures taking place in 2024.

“We look forward to showcasing the incredible skill and dedication of our players on both the national and international stages.”
