Super Falcons goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie was in her absolute best as Paris FC beat last year’s semi-finalists, Arsenal Women FC in the second round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League preliminary stages.
Nnadozie saved two penalty kicks, including one against Alessia Russo who had scored a brace to drag the game into penalties.
Paris FC had gone 0-2 up just over ten minutes into the second half when they scored two quickfire goals through Matilde Bourdieu who scored in the 56th minute and in the 57th minute respectively.
The visitors hit cruise control until England forward, Alessia Russo was introduced into the game in the 59th minute, two minutes after the second goal went in for Paris FC Women.
Russo would go on to almost turn the match on its head almost singlehandedly, when she pulled one back in the 80th minute and 16 minutes later with the match in its embers, Beattie Jennifer dragged the game into extra time when she scored off an assist from Katie McCabe.
One minute into the second half o extra time, Fleury Louise restored Paris FC’s lead but only ten minutes later, Alessia Russo would force the issue and drag the game to be decided by the dreaded lottery of penalties when she scored just four minutes from time at the 116th minute.
Chiamaka would prove to be the Heroine of the game for the French club as she denied Leonhardsen-Maanum Frida and Alessia Russo from the spot, and took her team past last season’s semi-finalists to advance in the Champions League.
