2023 AfroCan: Leopards Beat D’Tigers

D’Tigers’ aspirations of securing a podium finish at the AfroCan have been shattered as they were unable to secure a spot in the semi-finals following the 64-62 points loss to defending champions, DR Congo.

After a strong comeback victory against Gabon, D’Tigers advanced to the quarter-finals of the AfroCan.

However, their journey came to an end as they faced DR Congo, and suffered a narrow defeat with a 2-point margin to the Leopards.

In a tightly contested match, the Nigerian team chased the opponent as they raced to a significant lead in the first quarter, winning 31-19.

Despite a strong comeback in the remaining three quarters, winning each set by a narrow margin, it was not enough for Nigeria to overcome the early deficit.

Ultimately, DR Congo emerged as the victors, advancing to the next stage of the competition.
