Secretary General of the Nigeria Olympic committee NOC Olabanji Oladapo has urged football to simply rise to the occasion next time as more federations continue to gain qualification to the fast approaching Tokyo 2020 games in Japan stating that the recent qualification of basketball to complete male and female representation is testament of the fact that other sports have raised the bar.
Oladapo speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the road to Tokyo 2020 is getting clearer as more federations gets closer to qualifying for the games and stressed that the absence of football wouldn’t take anything away from the hard work and feat achieved by other sports to secure Olympic qualification.
“Now the road is clear, gradually we are getting there we are Nigerians and Nigerian spirit is never die. We will still qualify many people.
“Who tells you that because football did not qualify that’s the end of the road. It’s not the end of the world. Other sports have actually raised the bar and I wished all of them the best of luck.”
Jigawa golden stars player Pascal Eke has stated that his side’s rescheduled NPFL match day 7 fixture against Rangers is one that they are determined to stop the home side and build on the good form that saw them beat Nasarawa united and Lobi stars when they xkash today against Rangers in Enugu.
Eke speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the team spirit within the Jigawa stars team is high and believes they will pick a positive result at the end of the game as they also bid to move out of the relegation zone on the league table.
“Our previous matches against Lobi stars and against Nasarawa united, the team did well and I know the team spirit is very high, so we going to Rangers we know by his grace we’ll pick point there now because the team spirit is very high and I trust my team and my teammates as well.”
Coach of NPFL side Wikki Tourist FC Usman Abdallah has stated that he hopes his side can maintain a good showing like they have done recently against Enyimba ahead of today’s rescheduled NPFL match day 11 fixture as coach Abdallah makes an emotional return to Aba with Wikki.
Abdallah speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said returning to Aba with Wikki is no doubt an emotional and nostalgic one for him but that will be secondary as he simply wants his side to get the job done on the pitch by beating the People’s Elephants.
“It’s nostalgia and a little bit emotional and I hope it goes well with us. We are confident we are coming in there to pick point or even bag the three points its possible.
So it’s always that way, even with Enyimba in my history I’ve never beaten Wikki Tourist. They have a good record against Enyimba and we hope to continue that.”
