Vice President of the Africa Table Tennis Federation and International representative on the board of the Nigeria Table tennis Federation Waheed Oshodi has backed the Nigeria table tennis contingent to make up for inability to qualify for the team event of the Olympics with qualification in the singles and mixed double event next month during the Africa qualifying tournament in Tunisia.
Enyimba goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai has expressed strong optimism about the chances of the People’s Elephant qualifying out of the group following Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to Hassanir Agadir of Morocco which leaves the People’s Elephant now in a tricky situation going to the last group stage fixture away to San Pedro of Ivory Coast.
Enugu Rangers vice captain Tope Olusesi has expressed unequivocally that Rangers 1-0 win over Pyramids FC of Egypt was good for the team’s prestige even though it proved abortive at long run following El Masry’s 1-0 victory against Mauritania side Noaudibou which effectively knocked out Rangers out of the group stage of the CAF Confederation cup.
Olusesi speaking in a chat with www.brila.net after the game said it was a game that also earned Rangers a modicum of respect and testament that they are not a push over side. He also revealed that it was obvious tension in Rangers camp who were all hoping to see the Mauritania side deny El Masry a win which would have handed Rangers a life line but had such hopes dashed when El Masry netted a late winner.
“It was a very good game we won, and it was not that painful for us yes we started badly but we knew that definitely we were going to get a good result. The El Masry team had a late winner and after our game were just hoping and watching to see the El Masry game against Nouadibou. But at least we came here to prove that we are not a push aside team and we fought so strongly. I am happy we had a very good result even though we are not qualifying. It’s a good thing that we had to protect our prestige as Rangers.”
Super Eagles and Lobi stars defender Ebube Duru has stated that the Makurdi based NPFL side are out and motivated by the desire to prove that the league title won by the club after sudden end to the league at Week 24 back in 2018 was no fluke and hence determined to ensure they stay top for as long as possible following Sunday’s 2-1 win over Nasarawa united.
Duru speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the Pride of Benue is determined to show everyone that they deserve to be crowned league champions yet again and this they will hold on to for as long as possible stressing clearly that Lobi stars have become a big threat to the other contending NPFL teams in the league.
“Lobi stars has become a threat to other teams in the league and a big team also. So we are still keeping that same spirit and if you notice from that time they gave us the league title, we have been doing well in the league and even in the continental games. So it was not a fluke for us. So we know nothing is going to hinder this league and at the end of the day we will become the league champion.”
