Meanwhile, Captain of the team, Adaora Elonu, who spoke to the media at the unveiling of the new jersey for the team , disclosed thatthe team s ready to win the title once more and urged Nigerians to get behind the girls for the battle ahead.
“It will be tough in Senegal but we are prepared to give our best and retain our title. We have been training hard to be in top shape and I am sure we will all be fit when the championship begins.”
“It is possible to win the title in Senegal with the support of our countrymen. On our part, we will do our best to do our country proud.”

NFF Confirms Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium For Eagles Vs Benin Republic Clash
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed Benin, the Edo state capital as venue of the November 11, 2021, Africa Cup of Nations qualifier clash between the Super Eagles and the Squirrels of Benin Republic.
NFF President, Amaju Pinnick confirmed the development when he paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency and state governor, Godwin Obaseki on Tuesday.
Pinnick was in the ancient city of Benin, alongside FIFA officials who on a trip to Nigeria to see facilities at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, one of the proposed venue for FIFA U-20 World cup.
“You have done a lot for football development in the country and the Nigerian football community wants me to thank you for the role you played in ensuring Nigeria’s Falconets qualified for the last FIFA Under-20 World Cup,’’ Pinnick said.
Nigeria finished third in the last African Cup of Nations in Egypt and has been grouped alongside Benin Republic, Lesotho and Sierra Leone in the qualifiers for the next edition in Cameroon.
Nigeria’s table tennis veteran, Funke Oshonaike is delighted with her performance at just concluded 2019 ITTF African Cup in Lagos.
The experienced former African women’s number one player wasstopped in the quater finals by her compatriots Edem Offiong who went on to lose in the semi-final.
Speaking after the championship, Oshonaike said , she’s proud of her showing and hope she can take the momentum into ITTF Nigerian Challenge which kicks off today.
“I gave my all at Africa singles cup championship but I was stopped by my team mate at the quarter finals. I’m so very happy that I played very well.“
