Omeruo impressed by AFCON 2019 turn out, urges CAF never to return to winter
Super Eagles and CD Leganes defender Kenneth Omeruo says he is impressed with the turnout at the 2019 AFCON and has hailed the Confederation of Africa Football for moving the tournament from winter to summer.
Omeruo said in an interview with Brila.net that historic edition which has 24 teams and played in the month of June-July ranks amongst the best on all levels – organization, infrastructure, technical and tactical abilities and to mention but few.
“Changing the period from January – February to June – July was A brilliant idea because most of the players lost their places in their clubs when it was played in January.
“When the AFCON was played in winter, many players were not fully focused because of their club duties. Having it in the summer is much better and I salute CAF for this decision”.
