Nigeria’s highest ranked Golfer Oche Andrew Odoh has stated that for golf to truly experience proper development in Nigeria, it has to do first with the Nigeria Golf Federation coming up with a proper development plan and having a strong synergy with the professional body Professional Golfers Association of Nigeria.
Odoh speaking on the occasion of the PGAN’s 50th anniversary said in a chat with www.brila.net that the Nigeria Golf Federation has a lot to do in getting golfers in and trained at a much younger level through the amateurish stage before getting to the pro level where the PGAN comes in and gets such players performing at a much higher and professional level.
“Obviously there is a Federation for Golf in the country which is the Nigeria Golf Federation NGF and to be honest the NGF needs to pick up very strongly to develop the game of Golf.
”I don’t think they are doing close to enough. Every top golf playing nation in the world has been developed by strong development plan set up by their Federation and not just the PGA whose major work is developing younger talent and developing professional golfers.
“The only way we can get it right is for the NGF to work together with the PGAN to develop the game.”
