Super Falcons progressed to the next phase of the ongoing 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, following Chile 2-0 win over Thailand on Thursday.
The Thomas Dennerby’s girls advanced to the next round as one of the best four losers of the Group stage, after finishing with three points from three group A games.
Cameroon‘s 2-1 win over New Zealand earlier in the day , means Chile must not beat Thailand with more than two goals for the Falcons to advance.
The Chileans, however failed in their quest reach the round of 16, as their 2-0 victory over the Thailand was not enough to guarantee them qualifications.
It’s the first time in 20 years that the African Champions will progress to next round of the Women’s World Cup, haven done so in U.S.A 99.
Meanwhile, the Falcons will now meet former World champions Germany in the round of 16 next week.
