Nigeria wrestling National team Head Coach Purity Akuh has revealed his displeasure towards the inability of the Nigerian Government to honour the National Wrestling team for their heroic display at recently concluded African Wrestling Championship.
The Nigerian team finished top of the medals table at the African Wrestling Championship in Tunisia with the most of the athletes booking their place at next year’s Olympic games in Tokyo.
While reacting to the reception of their turkish counterparts by the Turkish Government for winning the European wrestling championship, Akuh believes the Nigerian wrestlers deserves same treatment from their Government and added that the actions of the Nigerian Government is the reason some athletes dumped the country.
“Oh my dear country, now i see reasons why Nigerian athletes prefer to represent other countries“
“The same continental trophy we won in Hammamet, Tunisia, The Turkish Wrestling team won the same at the just concluded European wrestling championships and were received and honoured.“
“We are back home without been noticed by President, top ministry officials, Nigeria Olympic committee, Governor from our States# so painful.“ Akuh said.
