Dream Team VII defender Duru says U23 Eagles target outright victory

Nigeria’s U23 national team defender Ebube Duru has stated that Dream Team VII intends to get an outright victory against their Libyan counterpart today in Tunisia when both teams face off in the qualifiers for the 2019 AFCON U23 cup of nations.

Duru speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said the spirit in the U23 camp is high and that this game is one which everyone has been preparing for in the last four weeks and stressed that the players will be all out to seal the win so as not to disappoint Nigerians.

CAF CL: Inexperience killed Lobi Stars – Paul Onobi

Former Lobi Stars midfielder, Paul Onobi has declared that inexperience on the part of the players led to the failure of Nigeria’s CAF Champions eague flagbearers in advancing beyond the group stage.

Speaking with brila.net, Paul Onobi who played for the Super Eagles under the tutelage of coach Sunday Oliseh, noted that most of the players were novices on the continent and the issue of inadequate funds must have seriously affected the team.

“I’m not surprised that they crashed out regardless of me wishing them the best while the journey lasted. I think it was inevitable for them to be kicked out of the competition because some had never had continental experience.

I still give kudos to the coaching crew for still putting them together and making do with the players available.

Remember most players left and they also had fund problems, so I think these factors affected the team but all in all I think they their best and should keep their head up as they didn’t disappoint”, he wrapped.

Paul Onobi now plays his football with Alnjoom fc of Saudi Arabia.

Libya vs Nigeria: U-23 team skipper Azubuike says no shaking

Çaykur Rizespor of Turkey and Nigeria U-23 team captain, Azubuike Okechukwu has declared that he is in no form of pressure as skipper of the team as they face their Libyan counterparts in an Africa U-23 Championship qualifier.

Azubuike told brila.net that having being through the same qualification series where he led the team to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, he is mentally strong and same applies to all members of the team.

“I am actually not under pressure, the last time we qualified the team to the Olympics which wasn’t easy and it feels like the same amount of pressure even though every game comes with its own responsibility.

We will have to play every game like it’s a final because that is the mentality we need to qualify. I met with the boys home and foreign based and I think we are ready for Libya.”
