Udeze backs Rohr’s decision to drop Mikel from Eagles squad to face Seychelles
Former Super Eagles left back Ifeanyi Udeze has defended the decision of Super Eagles technical Adviser Gernot Rohr to drop Captain and Boro’s midfield maestro John Mikel Obi from the team to face Seychelles.
Former Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen has stated that the players who have been invited should count themselves lucky, as a large number of Nigerian players continue to play regularly for their clubs across the globe.
Eguavoen added in a chat with www.brila.netthat whatever method was used by coach Rohr in his selection of players should be welcome, while charging the players to give their best
“Whichever method used to invite players is very welcome, and I think the players who have been invited should count themselves lucky”.
“The main thing for the team especially the players is to ensure they go out on the pitch and make themselves happy as well as putting smiles on the aces of soccer loving Nigerians”.
The three-time African champions confront Seychelles in a largely –ceremonial session at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Friday, 22nd March, starting from 4 pm, and then tackle the Pharaohs of Egypt at the same venue in a prestige international friendly four days later.
All invited players, alongside technical and backroom crew, are to report in the Delta State capital on Monday, 18th March 2019.
Katsina United Coach Abdullahi Biffo says his side deserved more than a point in the 1-1 result against league champions, Lobi Stars, in a rescheduled NPFL match played at the weekend in Makurdi.
The visitors took the lead and dominated, but were hard done by some dodgy officiating Biffo told brila.net.
The coach believes a refereeing error cost his side two points on the day, insisting Lobi were lucky. He said, “My teams have always enjoyed good results against Lobi; I win, I draw and I lose no matter where we play.
I told my players this time to be focused, but for a mistake by the referee, we could have won.”
Fuad Ekelojuoti has been the revelation of the season so far at Sunshine Stars and he could go on to prove crucial for the Owena Whales even as a Utility player, a role he embraces.
Fuad joined the Akure based side in the 2019 season and has already gone on to become one of the most influential players for the them on the pitch.
Naturally a winger, with great pace, a dribbler and one with an eye for goal, the diminutive player has been deployed in virtually every outfield role by Head Coach Kabiru Dogo.
In a chat with brila.net, he said he accepts every responsibility he’s given on the pitch even during games, but insists the team’s success rather than personal accolade is his biggest priority.
