Odunayo Adekuoroye delivered a masterclass performance at the Germany Grand Prix as she recorded impressive victories over her opponents to claim a gold medal in the 57kg of the women’s freestyle on Monday.
Victor Moses finds himself at a familiar territory. Like much of his Chelsea career, the Nigerian is at a crossroad without a definite direction. As a matter of urgency, he must take an exit route out of Stamford Bridge. Whether loan or permanent.
A new sigh of fresh air accompanied Maurizio Sarri’sappointment as Chelsea boss last summer. Antonio Conte’s pragmatic, negative defensive brand had gloomed the atmosphere. He was even branded an ‘anti-football’ manager. The Blues lacked everything: flair, drive and bite. They simply played for the sake of it.
It wasn’t the case in his maiden foray. Conte’s brand captured the queen’s country such that other clubs subconsciously followed suite. Even the headstrong Arsene Wenger joined the bandwagon. Conte cared little about pedigree. Unheralded players thrived. Victor Moses was one.
After three years wandering outside Cobham, Moses got a chance to prove his worth. He took the opportunity with both arms, manning the right-wing of a five-man backline. He was almost irreplaceable racking up impressive performances en route to clinching the Premier League.
The Nigerian showed courage shuttling between defence and attack. He was fearless on the ball and relentless off it. Like a child denied of the luxury of life, Moses wasn’t ready to go back to the rags after tasting riches. He believed with more consistent performances he would remain in the first team.
But unfortunately, that dream came to abrupt end when Sarriarrived with his ball famed ‘Sarri Ball’. Tactics and lineups are often casualties of managerial changes increasing the odds of winning when betting on Chelsea, seen on the majority of UK’s betting sites.
While Conte emphasised defensive responsibility, Sarri preaches the best defence is relentless attack. Moses was sacrificed for the more technically gifted players. There was no way Eden Hazard or Pedro will watch the Nigerian.
It was apparent Moses will return to ghost mode at Stamford Bridge. However, none anticipated a complete absence. The 28-year-old has started just one game across all competitions. He’s only featured thrice in the Premier League and hasn’t been spotted around the first team in over three months.
Crystal Palace and Fulham have reportedly offered the Nigerianan escape train. He must rush into either and zoom off to save his career.
