The Lafia city stadium hosted the North Central derby as Nasarawa United played host to Plateau United.
The MD 7 fixture lived up to its pre-match hype as Sunusi Ibrahim benefitted from a cut back from Anas Yusuf to fired home from close range as Nasarawa United raced into an early lead in the 8th minute.
Plateau United who were comfortable in possession could do nothing to hurt the Solid miners with Jesse Akila and Bernard Ovoke restricted to little or no space by the duo of Abubakar Bello and Jide Williams.
Early in the second half Sunusi Ibrahim turned provider when his return pass was headed home by Adeshola Johnson to make the point safe for the Bala Nikyu’s side
However Plateau United reduced the deficit as Emmanuel Edafe’s scored late from a goalmouth scramble, but it was not enough to deny the Solid Miners their first home win in three games over Plateau United.
Speaking after the game, Nasarawa United Assistant Coach, Arikya Abubakar said, though his side struggled, he’s  happy with the boys’ character to put behind the loss to Kano Pillars to deliver a  masterclass against Plateau United.
“We obviously learned from the loss to Kano Pillars but to the boys improved by d defeating Plateau United today”.
