2019 FIBAWC: Kida highlights positives as D’Tigers world cup hopes crashes

President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation Engr. Musa Kida has expressed satisfaction with the performance of Nigeria’s D’tigers despite having lost back to back games at the ongoing FIBA world cup in China to end hopes of staying on course for group knockout round qualification.

Kida speaking on Nigeria’s outing at the world cup games played so far said there is every reason to be optimistic of the future of the D’tigers after twice coming close to winning and ending both games against Russia and Argentina in defeats.
He added that the team will grow to a more formidable force in the future.
“This D’tigers team that we have though a young team, is the best team that has ever come out of Africa. And some of them have given us the benefit of coming to the world cup after 13 years of absence. They give us the benefit of rebuilding  and acquiring the experience that we should have had believing that next time we will do better.”
Nigeria will after her final group game against South Korea play classification games to determine where the team will finish at the end of the tournament.
