D’Tigers Captain, Ikechukwu Diogu has expressed his readiness to feature for the Nigeria Basketball team in the FIBA World Cup holding in China.
The Head Coach of the men’s senior National team Alex Nwora has earlier released his final team list for the 2019 FIBA World Cup qualifiers taking center stage this weekend.
Diogu has stated that he is excited the national team have an opportunity to host a leg of the 2019 FIBA world cup qualifiers and believes the team will deliver hopefully with three straight victories at the end of the mini-tournament.
The 12-man list announced at the team’s last training session on Thursday will be headlined by Sinchuan Blue Whales player and captain, Ike Diogu.
Others are Omoerah Keith Sado (Baerum Basket, Norway), Braxton Ogbueze Jai (Charlotte University, USA), Nwora Jordan (University of Louisville, USA) Agada Caleb Apochi (Prat, Spain) and Okosun Augustine Obehioye (Sameji Dominican Republic).
Mehinti Tosin Idowu (Lavrio, Greece) and Moses Kingsley (Antwerp Giants, Belgium) were also selected and are all in line to make their first competitive debut for Nigeria.
Others are Uzoh Benjamin (CB Caballero De Culican, Mexico), Mbamalu Bryant (CD Vildivia, Chile), Zanna Talib (Ironi Nes-Zion’s, Italy) and Emenago Obinna Clinton (Rouen Basket, France).
Diogu speaking to brila.net ahead of the commencement of the qualifiers today posited that the Nigeria men national basketball team is not under any form of pressure as it comes for them with a lot of pleasure to win for the fans in Nigeria right in front of Nigerians.
The FIBA World Cup in China will be Diogu’s first ever World Cup opportunity in his entire Career.
