Super Eagles defender, Olaoluwa Aina finally got on the scoresheet for the first time in Hull City’s 1-0 win vs Blackburn Rovers.
In his 31st game as a Pro footballer, Okay Aina netted the game winner in the 58th minute as Hull City secured a spot in the FA Cup fourth round.
After a goalless first half, the young Nigerian headed home Jon Toral’s corner at the back post and ended Blackburn Rovers’s 18-match unbeaten run in the process.
Ola Aina started in his preferred right-back position against Rovers while Fikayo Tomori operated as a central defender for the Tigers.
The Tigers continued to play with the greater control up to half-time, nullifying Blackburn’s attacking line, but the visitors were unable to make it count in opposition territory.
Henriksen’s header back across goal eluded both Evandro and Diomande in a fleeting moment of promise just before the break.
Hull City continued to be the more threatening side early in the second half and the opening goal was the visitors’ reward in the 58 minute.
A right-wing corner from Toral saw Aina climbing highest of all and the defender’s downward header squeezed inside the far post.
The former England U19 skipper had been deployed as a left-back in eight of his last nine matches in the EFL Championship.
Aina spent over 2000 minutes on the pitch before netting the first goal of his Career.
