The city of Uyo is swelling under the flux of football fans, dignitaries and international press as Super Eagles set to take on South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in 2019 AFCON Qualifier.
After much anticipation and talks about the big game between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Bafana Bafana of South Africa, the kick off is just a couple of hours away in Uyo.
In 2014, South Africa stopped Nigeria from qualifying for the 2015 AFCON when they held their counterparts to a 2-2 draw. And this has brought rivalry between the two teams, especially since Nigeria has failed to beat South after that game.
Baxter’s team are looking confident that they can snatch a victory in Uyo. The new captain of Baxter’s side – Hlatshwayo, referred the Eagles as arrogant and ripe for plucking. He revealed that his team knows how to win the game and will use the lack of pace in the Nigeria’s defence line to get the desired result by catching them on the break.
Bafana Bafana Coach, Baxter, also said: “We have the ability of hurting Nigeria. We want to be a big nuisance to them – to be their worst nightmare.”
Meanwhile, Eagles and Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has revealed that every single player in the camp of the Eagles is really working hard, even as they will try their best to make sure they emerge victorious against their opponents.
The average temperature in Uyo is at 29 degree Celsius and the humidity is also expected to be at an amazing 85%, suggesting a hot, steamy day at game time. Weather forecast expects tomorrow temperature to be at 31 degrees.
The kick off time for 2019 AFCON qualifier between Nigeria and South Africa is at 5pm Nigerian time and match analysis will be broadcast live on 88.9 Brila FM.
