John Terry rounded off his final Chelsea appearance at Stamford Bridge with an emotional speech to supporters after lifting the Premier League trophy on Sunday.
The 36-year-old, whose contract expires this summer, returned to the pitch to say goodbye after Chelsea’s 5-1 win over Sunderland ensured a record-breaking 30th Premier League victory in a season.
Terry led Chelsea out on his 717th club appearance and 580th as captain to a guard of honour from Sunderland players and a vast tribute from the Shed End of Stamford Bridge before being substituted for Gary Cahill in the 26th minute, passing the armband on to his vice-captain.

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) UK, which is the holding company for the American’s interest in Arsenal, issued a statement to London Stock Exchange this morning.
It reads: ‘KSE UK, Inc notes the recent media speculation concerning its shareholding in Arsenal Holdings PLC and confirms that its shares are not, and never have been, for sale.
‘KSE is a committed, long term investor in Arsenal and will remain so.’
When the American, 69, originally took a controlling stake in the club in 2011 it was valued at £731m, and Usmanov’s offer valued it at £1.54bn but despite the increase, Kroenke wants to stay.
Sources close to Kroenke have said that the money he would have made isn’t an issue as he wants to see the club grow and wants to oversee future success but Arsenal fans wants his exit.
Reports have also suggested that 63-year-old Usmanov – who is worth an eye-watering £11.2bn from mining and investments – is prepared to increase his offer and value the club at £2bn.
Stephen Odey failed to increase his goal tally when he missed a penalty in the 33rd minute after Kodjovi Dadzie handled the ball inside the box.
Aremu Afeez was sent off in the 86th minute of the game after a second yellow card following a late tackle.
The matchday 20 fixture was a reverse of the last match of the first stanza in which Akwa United won MFM in Uyo last month.
Akwa United’s new signings Ojo Olorunleke, Harmony Ikande and Gabriel Okechukwu all made their debut in the match but the top scorers in the league, Stephen Odey of MFM and Alhassan Ibrahim of Akwa United caught fan’s attention.
MFM needed a win to return to the top of the league while the Promise Keepers were targeting victory to break into the top four but the two teams could not find a way pass each other’s defense despite a spirited performance.
Ifeani Ifeanyi and Aremu Afeez who dominated the midfield battle were both booked and the duo will miss Akwa United’s home game against ABS of Ilorin.
Sikiru Olatunbosun, Stephen Odey and Adegboyega Adekunle all had chances to score for the home side but their efforts were well saved by Olo Olorunleke who had a wonderful game on his debut.
Coach Abdu Maikaba’s team also had opportunity of their own Harmony Ikande, Gabriel Okechukwu and Alhassan Ibrahim were guilty on many occasions.
In the end a goalless draw was a fair result for both sides. With the result, MFM moved to 34 points while Akwa United have 30 points from 20 matches and occupy 6th position on the table.
Akwa United will next play ABS of Ilorin at the Nest of Champions in Uyo at the weekend.
Amazing record since taking the helm of affairs at the Santiago Bernabeu. Real madrid legend Zidane has been able to take the Los blancos to two finals of the UEFA Champions League in a season and half. Winning one with one still pending. He has won Real Madrid’s first La Liga title in 5 years at the expense of rivals FC Barcelona.
Enjoy a video of his rise.
