Juventus wrote yet another chapter of Italian football history at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night as goals from Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonucci saw them cruise past Lazio to seal a third consecutive Coppa Italia crown, their 12th overall.
Dominant throughout, Juventus had put one hand on the trophy within the first 25 minutes as Alves coolly volleyed home at the back post before Bonucci steered into the far corner both from Alex Sandro assists.
After losing to AS Roma at the weekend the Old ladies had no room for complecency as they took the game to Lazio
Leonardo Bonucci hailed the strength of Juve’s squad after the Bianconeri sealed a third straight Coppa Italia crown with a 2-0 victory over Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.
“It was a tough match but we went about it the right way. We were back to our usual selves today after slipping up on Sunday,” the defender began.
“This cup success is down to the hard work of the whole squad. The Coppa Italia was an opportunity for the guys who were playing a bit less to show what they can do and we all did our jobs well. Credit must go to the club for putting together such an exceptional group of players – and we did our part by showing grit and determination.”
Now Juventus can seal the Scudetto on sunday when they take on Crotone to take their trophy count to two out of three while they wait till next month to play Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
