Rivers State Government yields to Players’ Unpaid Wage Demands

Few weeks after images of a footballer hugging the sole of a State governor’s shoe at a protest for unpaid sign-on fees hit the media, news is the government has yielded.

In a press release signed by Sports Commissioner Boma Iyaye, funds have been released by the government.

The payment is for sign-on fees owed to players of Sharks, Dolphins and Rivers Angels FC for the 2014/15 season.
